A: Yes. There are several ways we can help you improve your reading and math
skills. This is something we deal with every day. Let us design an improvement

A: We can help you find programs to help improve your English skills and work at

Yadkin County Partnership for Children, Inc.
Mon-Fri 8:00am - 5:00pm
The partnership provides services and funding for agencies that work with
families with children under the age of 5. The goal is for all of Yadkin County
children to be healthy and ready to learn when they enter Kindergarten.
The Early Childhood Resource Center
Mon- Fri 8:00am - 5:00pm
Offers an available Lending Library of developmentally appropriate toys and
materials for parents and childcare providers of preschool age children. Also
provides technical support to childcare providers to improve quality in
childcare centers and homes and provides professional development supplements.
Yadkin SCAN
Mon- Fri 8:00am - 4:30pm
SCAN's services include; a 12-week series of morning parenting classes, parent
aide-home visiting program, Welcome Baby, and a Speakers Bureau and Resource
Center. Their newest program is the Under 5 Club designed for families with
children age 5 and younger.
Yadkin County Work First
Mon- Fri 8:00am - 5:00pm
Work First is North Carolina's plan to help families move off welfare and into
employment. To help families reach their self-sufficiency goal, Work First
provides employment services, other supportive services, and time limited cash
assistance eligible families with children under the age of 18.
Yadkin County Kinship Care Program
Mon- Fri 8:00am - 5:00pm
Kinship Care is a component of Work First. The program is designed for
grandparents or other extended family members who are caring for children other
than their own. The program offers supportive services as well as financial
assistance.
Yadkin County Subsidized Childcare
Mon- Fri 8:00am - 5:00pm
The Subsidized Childcare Program assists families in affording childcare.
Supports goals of employment, training, child welfare and developmental needs of
children. A list of enrolled providers is available upon request. Extended
evening hours are available twice monthly by appointment only. This allows
working parents the opportunity to come in without taking time from their
employment.
Yadkin County JobLink Career Center
Mon- Fri 8:00am - 5:00pm
The JobLink Career Center is available to every resident and employer in Yadkin
County. Employers can receive help in applicant recruitment, prescreening,
pre-employment job readiness training, access to a large base of potential
employees, distribution of job listings, referrals, on-the-job training
incentives, and tax credits for hiring eligible employees. Individuals seeking
employment and/or training can receive assistance in resume preparation, job
search planning and development, employment referrals, one-on-one career
counseling and job specific services and referrals to other community services
and resources. These services are available free of charge.
Workforce Development Program
Mon- Fri 8:00am - 5:00pm
Offers assistance in finding a better job with a real future. Workforce
Development helps you to identify your career interests and skill level.
Short-term classes for job skills training and specific training for high demand
jobs are also available. Work experience and on-the-job training opportunities
can also be arranged when necessary. These services are available at no cost to
qualifying individuals.
ESC / Employment Security Commission
Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
The Employment representative offers job referrals and help in filing for
unemployment benefits. The Employment Security Commission is available for Food
Stamp or Work First recipients to help them to comply with the specific program
guidelines. The Representative has scheduled appointments during the hours
he/she is at the Community Links Center.
Educational Opportunity Center
Thurs & Fri 8:00am - 4:30pm
The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) provides free assistance and
information to help adults prepare for college and/or training programs.
Administered through Surry Community College, Lisa Lara, Educational Opportunity
Center Coordinator serves both Yadkin and Davie Counties. She can be reached
through the CLC main number or toll-free at 1-877-532-0090 for your appointment
today.
NC Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services
(by appt.) 679-4044
Vocational Rehabilitation offers a variety of services to NC residents who
suffer from substance abuse, physical, mental or learning disabilities. Help
with job placement, vocational and classroom training is also offered. Disabled
individuals can receive assistance in obtaining tools and equipment that make it
easier to be independent. Services are provided to eligible customers free of
charge.
Community Services Block Grant Program

The Community Services Block Grant Program operated by YVEDDI, is designed to
assist qualified families to raise their income above the poverty income
guidelines by providing services as needed. These may include any of the
following: job counseling, employer incentives, supportive services, justifiable
transportation, and other assistance and referrals.
